How are the winners and nominees chosen?
Both the shortlist and the winners are decided entirely by public vote. From 27 October to 24 November members of the public can nominate their favourite person or production in each category. The shortlist is then put to public vote from 1 December to 31 January.

How many nominations and votes are allowed per person?
Nominations are limited to one per person and require an email address to maintain integrity of the submissions. Votes are also limited to one per person and also require an email address to maintain integrity of the submissions.

When are nominations announced?
Shortlists are announced on 1 December 2017, and voting begins on that date.

How can I attend the Launch Party?
The Launch Party is an invitation only event. We do our best to invite the principal actors, creatives and producers from all the major openings that year, as well as other key industry figures in PR, marketing and management.

What is the Awards Concert?
The concert is where the winners of the awards are announced, alongside performances from West End stars. This year’s concert will be held on Sunday 25 February and is open to the public.

How can I attend the Awards Concert?
The Awards Concert is primarily a public event, with tickets at a range of prices. A handful of tickets are held back for invited guests, including sponsors and individual nominees (and one guest each per nominee). For production category nominations, winners are provided with a pair of tickets. Producers or others connected to winners and nominees can purchase additional house seats.

How long have the WhatsOnStage Awards been running?
The WhatsOnStage Awards began in 2001, and the first Awards Concert was held in 2008. See full lists of previous winners in our archives here
